How do I remove deodorant stains from my laundry?

Q#1 : I have yellow deodorant stains in some of my laundry, how do I remove them?
Q#2 : How do you clean anti-perspirant stains from underarms of shirts?

A#1 : Most anti-perspirants contain aluminum compounds to reduce wetness. When these are combined with laundry detergent, especially in cooler water settings, they are not easily dissolved, that causes the build-up and yellowing remain on fabrics.
  • Choose a brand with the lowest aluminum content.
  • After applying deodorant, allow it to dry completely before dressing to prevent rub-off on fabrics.
  • Dry shirts in the sun to increase whitening of fabrics and if that’s not possible, air dry indoors.
  • 1 part oxygen-based detergent (OxiClean)  :1 part ammonia. In a well-ventilated room, wearing rubber gloves, mix solution well – about 2 tablespoons of each ingredient per shirt. Protecting countertop with thick white towel, rub solution into stains for at least 30 seconds. Wash as usual in warm or cold water.
  • For light colored shirts test the solutions in an inconspicuous spot before trying the treatments under the arms. If there is no fading, proceed as for white shirts.
A#2 :  Soaking the shirts in warm water with an enzyme pre-soak product or rubbing the soiled area with white vinegar. Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric.
If the stain remains, dampen and sprinkle stain with meat tenderizer. Let stand for about an hour, and launder again.
A#3 : Trying to avoid polyester/acrylic and sticking to natural fabrics. Synthetics seem to hold the smell in a bad way. I have no problem with cotton.

A#4 : Aways wash the shirts in the hottest water safe for the fabric.

A#5 : Try this!! Soak in white vinegar 1part vubegar ti 4 parts water then rinse.
So if you soak the shirts, for about 1 hour and then wash them that should do it.

A#6 : Add enough water to 1/4 cup of baking soda to form a runny paste. Apply directly to the stain and work it in. If the stain is particularly bad and smelly, let the baking soda paste remain on the garment for a couple of hours then brush it off. Baking soda is very good for removing odors!

A#7 : Crush 3 aspro tablets and mix with cream of tartar powder of an equivalent amount. Then make up to a paste with some water. Apply to the stain and leave for 30 mins and then wash in usual way.

A#8 : Squeeze fresh lemon juice directly on the stain until it is quite wet,  add 1 spoonful of table salt. Rub between your fingers until the stain lifts. This also helps remove dark underarm stains on shirts.
If it is a bright sunny day, exposing the garment to the sun and allowing it to dry will enhance the stain removing power of the lemon juice.

A#9 :  Bleaching out the stain the natural way. Soak your clothes in cold water first , rub the soap into the stain , leaving the soap on and free from water , say 1/2 hr. rinse , Now add more soap pop into your washing machine on a 40ºc temp. normal wash. Hang outside in the sun.
