Many tips to remove sweat/ deodorant stains from your laundry
Apply a paste of baking soda and water to the stain, and let it sit for an hour. Then, wash as usual. This can be repeated using a little vinegar as well for added stain removing power. - Sponge stains with ammonia then rinse. If you’re cleaning clothing that contains wool or silk, first dilute the ammonia with water (50/50 ratio).
- Treat stains by gently rubbing a bar of laundry soap into the stain area. Spritz the spot with water first, then rub bar of soap into spot.
- Spray the stain with rubbing alcohol for a few hours before laundering.
- If the yellow stain is dried, make a paste of laundry detergent and apply to stain area and leave overnight before laundering.
- Spray stain with household vinegar to saturate the stain then rub in a bit of Borax. Place clothing item in a plastic bag and leave overnight. Launder the next day.
- Perspiration Stains: Mix a solution of water and vinegar (60/40) then sponge onto stain areas. Launder as usual.
- For white shirts. Pour hydrogen peroxide over the stain least 30 minutes before laundering. Hydrogen peroxide can “bleach” colored fabrics, so use this remedy on whites only.
- To prevent deodorant stains, apply baking soda to your underarms after applying deodorant. For less hassle, get into the habit of applying deodorant 5 minutes before putting on your shirt.
- Mix a bit of baking soda with water until you have a thick paste. Use a toothbrush to gently brush the paste into your clothing’s deodorant stains. Leave the paste saturating the stain for 20 minutes, then rinse it out with cold water and throw your garment into the laundry on a cold cycle with an oxygenating detergent. Sometimes the baking soda can leave a residue on clothing after the first cycle of washing so try to save this treatment for light clothing.
- Soak the stain in a half and half mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide for half an hour. Wash it out with cool water and let shirt air dry. If the stain is still visible, repeat the treatment with higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide.
- Applying hydrogent peroxide on white clothing keep your garments from turning dark or yellowish over the armpit area over time.
